Treatment For Skin Acne

As oppose to what most people think, skin acne is not just a problem that occurs during puberty, it can actually affect individuals aged 20 or older. Women in their mid-to-late 20s also often suffer from acne breakouts. Skin acne can appear in one of the following forms: congested pores, whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules or cysts. Acne occurs on wherever there are many oil (sebaceous) glands - face, back and chest. Skin acne treatment is available nevertheless, and it must be pointed out that there are some very effective methods and products. Of course, the type of treatment depends mostly on the severity of the condition, so sometimes it's best to consult a physician.

To completely understand skin acne treatment, you must be aware of the three basic causes - bacteria, clogged pores and oil glands. Having in mind those three causes, it easy to see why the idea behind most skin acne therapies is to open the pores, kill the bacteria and reduce oil. Bear in mind that there is no magical product that will relieve you from acne in one day. Despite all the advertising you read in different magazines on this matter, every person is unique and his/her situation often requires an individual approach. A given skin acne treatment product might work for one person, but it won't necessarily work for another.

To open the pores of your skin, it's advisable to wash the area with mild cleansers once or twice a day. A mild cleansing bar or liquid from Dove, Basis, Purpose, and Cetaphil are a very effective yet inexpensive way to keep the skin clean and minimize sensitivity and irritation. Product containing either fine granules or salicylic acid are also quite good as they remove the outer layer of the skin, and thus open pores.

Benzoyl peroxide is unquestionably the most popular ingredient for killing the bacteria in your skin. Products containing benzoyl peroxide come in the form of gels, creams and lotions, which are applied on the affected spot. Once you have this knowledge, don't be fooled by all the commercials seen on TV advertising one product or another, because the price of such products is over-exaggerated due to ad-related-costs, but at the end, they as effective as any other product out there, because they all contain benzoyl peroxide.

All treatments for skin acne try to reduce the oil produced by the oil glands and get rid of oil on the surface of the skin. A lot of products are available from the popular cosmetic lines, that wipe away oil. At night, apply a spot cream containing sulfur to the affected areas.

Nowadays, even laser treatments for skin acne exist. Recent studies have proven the success of such methods as they are both safe and effective. It's unclear though, how long the effect of laser treatments lasts. Another con is that such interventions are costly.
